The sun shone and the sky was blue-a rare event in Ducklingtons experiences ‘up north’-surely a good omen?
The starting line up had Kayleigh Stratford in goal, Emily Gee, skipper Katie Weaving, Holly Keylock and Abbie Lloyd in defence, Ella Butler, Francis Hook, Laura Jones, Lauren Major in Midfield and Naomi Ganderton and Sophie Pym up front. Kathy Green and Megan Bint came on mid way through the half.
Missing defender Katy Hoare, Ducklington dominated the first ten minutes with little to trouble keeper Kayleigh Stratford. A series of well worked attacks backed up by a solid defence with some sound tackles put in by the back four.
Then against the run of play and after thirteen minutes Bloxham broke through and with a shot from the edge of the area drilled the ball into the top right hand corner of the net.1-0
Ducklington regained their composure and took the game back to Bloxham, until the nineteenth minute when an inexplicable loss in form lead to series of goals which changed the face of the game, leaving Ducklington 6-0 down at half time.
Ducklington started the second half well with a notable shot, in the seventh minute, just wide of the post from Ella Butler, fed by a Sophie Pym cross.
A minute later and it was the turn of Bloxham who converted their chance.7-0
On the quarter of an hour mark and in a repeat of the first half ‘collapse’ Ducklington conceded five goals in seven minutes.12-0
Ducklington rallied in the final seven minutes only to concede an unlucky thirteenth in the dying seconds of the game.13-0
The Ducklington Player of The Match award was presented to Holly Keylock who had covered a lot of ground, with a tremendous work rate and along with her fellow defenders had put in some quality tackles
