A warm spring morning and a quality pitch greeted the visiting Ducklington fans who had their own warm up walk from the car park.
The Ducklington girls looked fresh and fired up for the game after the poor performance the previous week. The later kick off time may also have assisted those who had not strictly adhered to the pre-match early night instruction!
Ducklington were missing regular keeper Viv Hughes and Katy Hoare (the back bone of the defence.) It again fell to Skipper Katie Weaving to take up the goal keeping mantle, a challenge she now seems to relish and is proving herself to be highly competent in the role.
Two minutes into the game and Laura Jones fired in a shot skimming the left post and a minute later her cross picked out Lauren Major whose shot was deflected wide by the Summertown keeper.
Three minutes in and a goal mouth mêlée saw attempts from Ella Butler and Laura Jones thwarted by an outstanding piece of goal keeping. The resultant counter attack being ably handled by Emily Gee and Holly Keylock.
Nine minutes in and a lobbed shot from Lauren Major drew on all the skills of the home keeper to pull off the save before, three minutes on being defeated by a drilled shot from Ella Butler. 0-1 Kerching!!
In the next minute Summertown were on the attack with their shot skimming the bar but covered all the way by Katie Weaving. On the quarter of an hour mark Ella Butler netted her brace off the corner kick to take the visitors to a two goal lead before half time.0-2
With Emily Gee, Holly Keylock and Francis Hook ensuring that there were no shocks in the visitors half. The half ended with Ducklington in the lead.
The second half started again with Ducklington in command with an Ella Butler shot saved in the opening minutes. Then in the sixth minute Francis Hook sent her free kick licking the paint off the post. Followed a minute later with a Laura Jones cross to Lauren Major who slotted in her first of the day.0-3
A minute after the restart and a darting run from Laura Jones culminated with a shot on target to take the visitors four goals ahead.0-4 Ducklington were on fire with a succession of shots; the first from Lauren Major then Ella Butler weaved her way through the Summertown defence to set up Lauren only for the shot to scream over the bar then Ella again to Laura Jones back to Lauren Major for a shot skimming wide of the goal.
Thirteen minutes in and Holly Keylock and Abbie Lloyd defended a series of attacks at the other end clearing the ball to Laura Jones who picked out Lauren Major who netted her second of the day. 0-5
On the fourteen minute mark Francis Hooks free kick nicked the post followed immediately by Ella Butler shooting wide of the target. With seventeen minutes gone and Lauren Majors shot was saved then Emily Gee cracked a shot from the half way line just wide of the post.
On the twenty minute mark Lauren Major again drew a save followed by a shot from Ella Butler being scooped off the line by the keeper. Ella Butler then made another snaking run through Summertown to set up Lauren Major whose shot went wide of the left post. A minute later and Ella was at it again, this time setting up Laura Jones for her second of the day.0-6
In the dying seconds of the half Summertown had another shot, skimming the bar but covered all the way by Katie Weaving.
Abbie Lloyd collected the player of the match award for maintaining the defensive wall alongside Emily Gee and Holly Keylock and a series of match turning tackles-A blistering performance-.
