Summer days have past and an autumnal glow greeted the teams as Ducklington entertained the Cholsey Bluebirds on their own turf.

Lauren Majors shot in the fourth minute drew a fine save and set down the marker that the Ducklington girls, buoyed by the victory of the previous week, meant business.

The game raced from goal to goal then in the thirteenth minute Ducklington keeper, Viv Hughes pulled off a finger bursting save.

The Bluebirds demonstrated a strength from set pieces bringing Ducklington under pressure from a series of well worked corners. Caught slightly off guard initially, Ducklington soon handled these with Katy Hoare, Katy Weaving and Emily Gee the backbone of the defensive wall.

Ducklington strung together a number of breaks with accurate passing from Sophie Pym and Abbey Lloyd feeding repeated attacks from Laura Jones and Ella Butler.

The half finished as it began with a screaming shot from Lauren Major on the left skimming the right post in injury time. The first half had been true end to end stuff with both sides failing to capitalise on the chances created. With the score at 0-0 it was all there to play for.

Four minutes into the second half and Ducklington gifted the visitors a scrappy goal. 0-1 Ducklington responded well and in the seventh minute Katie Weaving shot put the Cholsey keeper under pressure. Three minutes later and Ella Butlers shot drew another save from the Cholsey keeper.

Then it happened ...Ducklington were caught napping and gave away goals in the thirteenth and fourteenth minute. Laura Jones shot in the fifteenth minute was saved and then a catalogue of defensive blunders in the sixteenth minute gifted the visitors their fourth goal.0-4

Undeterred Ducklington responded well and dominated the remainder of the half throwing everything at the Cholsey defence. The seventeenth minute saw Ella Butlers shot in the back of the Cholsey net. 1-4

Francis Hook shot in the twenty second minute again should have pulled the score back but it was not until the twenty third minute that a shot from Laura Jones drew a scrambled save on the line to be ably dealt with by Ella Butler who's finish pulled the home team back to 2-4

The final whistle sounded with the score at 2-4 and Ducklington reflecting on what should have been... Ducklington’s player of the match award was awarded to Lauren Major who, as ever, had battled tirelessly throughout.
