What is it with these away games? Sometimes the pitches are big, sometimes they are small, sometimes they have a slope, and sometimes there's no slope at all! Just as well the 'Ducks' are adaptable.

This week saw the team away, at surely the smallest Under 11 pitch in the league. Eight a side and there seems not enough room to swing a cat out there. What an interesting game this’ll be.

A 9.30 kick off saw Ducklington girls off to a bit of a slow start, but it was not long before the Ducklington strikers were hounding the Kennington defence, a swift break through by Katie Mullis saw a quick and easy goal for her, within a few minutes of play.

However, the Kennington goalie was on form today, saving further attempts at goal by Tasia Horne and the ever quick on the ball Foxy. As play progressed, Katie produced some fine crosses right into the Kennington box, which a number of the 'Duck' players tried to capitalise on, namely Tasia,Chanel Ebanja and Foxy. But this was to prove one frustrating day for Foxy as all shots at goal were saved or sadly off target. But with shear determination and quick thinking, Tasia hammered one home to give the home side something to think about.

Kennington had few opportunities at goal in the first half, thanks to the ever dependable Millie Eaton and Megan Ostle keeping Ducklington defence tight at the back.

Some scrappy play well within the Ducklington half, saw some attempts by Kennington to break through the 'Ducks' defence. Suddenly a swift clearance saw a great run by Katie down the left wing. A cross into the box saw a scramble to get on the end on it, but it was Eleanor Thompson who got a boot to it yards from the goal, powering it into the back of the net, to push the score up to 0-3 Almost half time now and Kennington started the fight back, with increased play in the 'Ducks' half.

The second half saw the home side fired up and keen to get some goals back. Kennington started to take more of a stronger position on the field. An early rush at an off guard ‘Ducks’ defence saw a Kennington striker in, slotting one in to get them onto the score sheet.

For a moment in the game Ducklington seemed to ease off somewhat, all losing their hunger to score another goal. All apart from Chanel who seemed to carry a total determination for the whole side, with some ‘cracking’ tackles and a monster determination to get that ball into the back of the net. A number of misses didn’t put her off, and it wasn’t long before she finally scored to bring the score up to 1-4.

Some last minute comical capers in the Kennington box saw a 4 person attempt at goal, as the ball passed back and fore in front of the goal, still not making the target. Well frustrating for the players, but very funny to watch!

A good game of football to watch. Well done girls!

Final score 1-4
