Match Report - by Kevin Thompson

This week sees the much talked about local Derby match against league newcomers Tower Hill. The air a little tense, as this newly formed side boasts an ex-Ducklington player, Jade Keenan-Naff.

There was a nervous pre match start for the visitors, as they waited for the late arrival of two of their players. But, with a quick ring around by the Vixens coach, they arrived in the ‘nick’ of time. The ref blows the whistle and we’re off.

Ducklington off to a commanding start, with all forwards pouncing at the Vixens defence. Within minutes, Katie Mullis had found her mark, delivering two unstoppable goals, passed a rather nervous looking Vixens goalie.
It was evident to all, even within this short time that the home side with two seasons experience were going to dominate this game.

The game progressed as the Vixens took on a barrage of shots at goal by the Ducklington strikers, Katie Mullis and Milly ‘Foxy’.
Even Gaby Hill in the centre getting a shot in.
By half time, both Katie and ‘Foxy’ had two each and Gaby one, the home side now 5-0 up.

The second half saw the game, turn into somewhat of a training game for the home side. Megan Want totally ‘OFF DUTY’ this week, being hardly troubled, only for one or two corners.

The ball now in the Vixens half almost continuously, Eleanor Thompson on the wing, along with many in the home side could be seen eyeing up the goal, eager to catch the glory of the next strike into the net. Millie Eaton making a powerful drive down the centre, with a shot at goal, nearly making the target.

At the back, both Megan Ostle  and Tasia Horne holding firm in defence. Both with some powerful tackles and clearing. Just mind those Club house windows Tasia!
Further goals by Katie, and ‘Foxy’ gave them both their ‘Hat tricks’ .
An unfortunate mistake by a Vixen defender, after a corner raised the score to
8-0 This the final score today.

Although this was a somewhat one sided game, it gave the home side a great chance to hone their passing and defending skills, working as a team to get their chances at goal. All skills, which will definitely be needed against the likes of Kidlington, and even Benson next week.

It was a very sorry looking Vixen side that left the ground today, but I’m sure with some more league games under their belts, they will be back with a firm determination to achieve more next time.

Well done Ducklington girls, let the winning continue! But, remember, Benson away next week, a much more evenly matched game is anticipated.

Player of the match today – Milly ‘Foxy’ Foxcrof.
