The convoy set out on a nice drive in the country across to Chinnor, thanks to Louise’s helpful Sat-Nav, for this first away clash with league newcomers Chinnor(B) We almost took in Thame street fair, but thanks to some friendly yellow diversion signs, we were back on track.
A 10 am kick off allowed for a pre game warm up, on what turned out to be an extra wide, energy sapping pitch.
A slow paced start to the game saw the ‘Ducks’ with a bit of an incline up to the home goal, but with some great early passing, it was not long before the ever useful Katie Mullis found the mark, slotting in two within minutes to give the visitors a great start.
It took a while for the home side to find there feet, but after 15 minutes, a Chinnor striker penetrated the ‘Ducks’ defence and hammered home a goal to try to get back into the game.
But with far superior passing skills, and great team play, it was soon evident that the home side were no match for Ducklington girls. A nice rolling program of substitutions by Graham and Steve helped give all girls a run out, and let all have a quick breather.
The later stages of the first half saw some great chances at goal by Channel Ebanja, Katie Mullis and Megan Ostle , but it was Katie and Megan, who were to find the mark, slotting in some fine goals, to take the score line up to 4-1 as the half time whistle blew.
Now with a down hill advantage, and great running play by Ducklington, more chances at goal came thick and fast. Chinnor offered little in the way of attacking play and Megan Want was rarely troubled.
All Ducklington forwards now having free play within the Chinnor box, there were chances at goal for Milly ‘Foxy’, Gabby Hill, Tasia Horn and Katie Mullis.
But even with a point blank range shot at goal, nothing is ever assured, much to the vocal dismay of supporting parents on the line, (Jackie)
Continued shots at goal helped to raise the tally. Further goals by Katie Mullis (2) and a fabulous last minute strike by Gaby Hill sealed the game well and truly.
Final score 8-1 to Ducklington.
Player of the match: Katie Mullis.
