Good to see all back at the home ground, for this start of season clash against Cholsey Bluebirds.

A fast start saw Ducklington straight on the attack. Within minutes there was a fine pass to ‘Foxy’ waiting in the ‘box’ by Eleanor Thompson. Offering a great chance at goal, she ‘slotted’ it away with ease to put the ‘Ducks’ 1-0 up.

However, the home side were not going to have it all there own way as a lack of concentration at the back left the Ducklington defence open, this allowed Cholsey in for some nerve racking shots at goal. Some off target, but when it mattered, we saw some great saves by Megan Want in goal.

This was proving to be a game of 2 well matched and determined sides. The score line could go either way, but continued pressure in the later stages of the first half gave both Chanel Ebanja and Katie Mullis, some near miss shots at goal.

The second half saw some further holes in the ‘Ducks’ defence which led to some dangerous activity around the home goal. Cholsey saw there moment and with continued pressure they soon fired one into the net to level the score.

Ducklington’s coach realised not all was right at the back, he shouted his instructions, and the team re-shaped and piled on the pressure once more. This lead to more chances at goal by Eleanor Thompson and Katie Mullis, but it was Katie who struck the final blow to give a worthy 2-1 win to the home side.

Well done girls, a fine start to the season, keep it up.

Player of the match awarded to Megan Want for some solid goal keeping, good saves and great kicking.
